Biography of the artist:

 Born into a family of musicians in Algiers, Karim Saada grew up immersed in Algerian chaâbi. A musical style with a name meaning “popular,” chaâbi arose in the 1930s. It is based on string instruments such as the violin, banjo and mandola, blended with percussions, ney (a sort of reed flute) and qanûn (a type of oriental zither). Karim’s father initiated his two sons in the banjo, ...
