Sliding their agile fingers over the 21 strings of their koras, Zal Idrissa Sissokho and Mansa Sissoko have embraced the destiny conferred by their status of griots. Accompanied on balafon by Mamadou Koita, also a griot, they proudly bear the treasures of Mandinka civilization around the world. Mansa Sissoko comes from Baleya, in Mali. His parents, both griots, sing and tell family stories at major events. He learned the kora at age 15. He was not initiated by his father, who does not play this instrument, but by his cousins.
