Afrikelektro is a group formed in Montreal by three musicians from different corners of the world. The group developed an innovative style that blends Funk, Disco, Rock and British Electro, mixed with rhythms and melodies of Central Africa. This fusion of traditional sounds and western electro -pop creates a catchy and upbeat music . Lionel Kizaba , originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the fouder and leader of the group as well as the drummer, singer and songwriter. Keyboard synthesizer, Vergil Sharkya, is electro- pianist and bassist. Chris Hamel, electric and acoustic guitar, fuses Afro-American music, which is his passion, with Electro -dance- pop. Lionel Kizaba in Afrikelektro gives the battery percussion set a Jazz, Afrobeat, Soukous and R’n’B footprint. The mix is influenced by artists as Fela Cuti, TP OK Jazz, Daft Punk and Chemical Brothers, to provide a new style that the trio unveils to the Quebec audience.
