Clay and Friends
Clay and Friends was created following a freestyle session backstage of a theater. This bilingual group offers a mix of hip-hop, funk, jazz and reggae. If Clay and Friends has a unique sound, thanks to MC’ing Clay and beatbox Aydell. The melodies and harmonies are controlled by the guitars of Clement and Samish, while the bass is played by Pascal. In concert, electronic samples and musical flights of Clay and his musicians are fed by the energy of the crowd. The show is never the same! The year of its formation in 2013, the band released its first EP: “A Quest Called Jam III”. A mini-album in pure hip-hop tradition, where the past is used to form the present. In 2014, the band released the album “All Day Jam Ep”, with a series of short video films. This bilingual project was carried out in collaboration with more than 20 musicians and vocalists of Montreal. Clay and Friends’ music and projects are a reflection of cultural and musical diversity of the group, and the image of today’s youth.
