Daniel Kasongo - El profesor
Daniel Kasongo started is musical career in the streets of Congo. Cardboard, plastic, cans, at that time where all suitable subjects for the manufacture of musical instruments. Then the young man learns the handling of the guitar and the African percussion in a local choir. Forced into political exile, El Professor travels throughout Europe and Africa, performing in cabarets and in the subways from Paris to Amsterdam. Upon is return to Africa, the tireless musician joins different groups such as the Select Alpha orchestra from Dakar or Abidjan’s Trio Jah Fing.
When he emigrated to Quebec, Daniel Kasongo forms the Kilimanjaro ensemble with which he played for several years. At the same time, the child of Congo benefits lessons from the percussionists Yaya Diallo. He continued his study of African rhythms in multiple trip to Cuba where he discovered the Afro-Cuban culture and also learned the traditional rumba.
