At the crossroads between Africa and North America, between Hip-Hop and Congolese pop music and focusing on engaged lyrics, Herléo Muntu is multi talented artist who never goes unnoticed. Born in Democratic Republic of Congo, he grew up in Canada, immersed in both worlds. In 2005, he released his first self-produced album with his band 7IM-VWA. Two years later, he recorded his first solo album, called “R-Leo”. He was nominated in four categories at the Trille Or Gala Awards in 2009: best French album, best male artist, bestsinger-songwriter and best music video. Meanwhile, he began a tour across Canada and was the guest band of Magic System and of the French group Bisso-Na-Bisso. Then he changed his artist name: from R-Leo he became Herléo Muntu. The year 2010 was marked by his second album release: “Le Lion des Bantous”. This album has opened him opportunities for production and distribution of music videos and concerts on big stages. In 2013, he released his third album “Reflexions” impregnated Congolese Pop, Hip-Hop and Latin influences. Herléo Muntu explores the various possibilities of the World Hip-Hop by addressing humanistic topics such as life, peace, joy and love.
