Les Lions Noirs

Biography :

Les Lions Noirs is a group formed in Montreal in 2013 under the artistic direction of bassist Lionel Katshingu, a self-taught musician of Congolese descent. The group’s songs feature an innovative style dubbed “International Groove” by this collaboration of artists from the four corners of the world.  Peruvian tenor saxophonist Geneviève Duplin and alto saxophonist Alexandre Arbour bring together the classical and jazz sounds of the instrument. Gorka Hernandez, of Mexican descent, punches out African rhythms on the percussions, while multi-instrumentalist Alain Karon plays drums. The hypnotic melodies of saxophonists Alexandre Arbour and Geneviève Duplin, the enchanting beats and rhythms of percussionists Gorka Hernandez and Alain Karon, and the deep tones of Lionel Katshingu on base, will get all music-lovers dancing.
