Look Out is a Montreal-based group created in 2010 by maestro Ruben St-Armand aka Sweetness. Look Out band is made of ten young musicians of Haitian origin. They compose and perform songs in French, English and Creole. Their music, whether the Haitian Kompa or Caribbean Zouk, transmits the joy and friendliness of the islands. The kompa, often defined as a modern meringue, has its origins in the Caribbean, specifically in Haiti. A dancing light music, and hybrid, both rooted in traditional sensual Caribbean rhythms, and heavily influenced by modern synthesizers and instruments. The group says Look Out is perfectionist, innovative and original, and plays a swinging and warm music. They participated in Syli d’Or in 2013 and later played for the Nuits d’Afrique Festival in 2013. Look Out dreams of releasing an album sounding Caribbean while remaining accessible to the Quebecker listener. The album will be, according to them, a good mirror of the society, in which they would paint the contrast between their generation and that of their ancestors.
