Rook (guitarist-singer), is from Bergerac in southwestern France. His passion for reggae and performing comes naturally. He lived in Sofia (Bulgaria), Bilbao (Spain), and Dakar (Senegal) and fed off the local cultures. In West Africa, he discovered rap: local acts PBS (Positiv Black Soul) and Daara J, and also Cypress Hill, Wu Tang Clan, and so on. But he also discovered other genres such Salif Keita, Alpha Blondy, and Cesaria Evora. At the age of 15, he moved back to France and immersed himself in writing. He devoted his time to freestyle rap sessions with friends. Soon, he started releasing mix tapes and performing at local venues. When he was living in Bourges, well known for its famous Le Printemps de Bourges music festival, he gained artistic experience through live music. Back in the South West, his development as a singer, songwriter, and performer followed its natural course with a first radio experience, studio time, and more prominent concerts. Rook then moved to Paris in 2007, which gave him the opportunity to participate in different events and cement his sound system experience on the roads of France, Switzerland, and Belgium. At the end of 2009, he left Paris for Montreal, where his encounter with jazz and blues proved to be a real turning point. After 2 years working with studio Sumtimz, Rook is now joined by talented musicians for a super lively show, featuring a musical cocktail of reggae, rap, blues, jazz, and rock.
