It is with the desire to produce music inspired from all around the world that Luc Lafrenière and Julie Pomerleau created Saltarello in 2000. This unique group began it’s artistic career by looking rigorously into medieval music. By studying this directory the Abitibian group develops a passion for ethnic music. After a year of existence, Saltarello gives birth to a first album, “Opietas”. Navigating through the ages and territories of the world, their melodies emerge from all imposed boundaries. The second album, Humana, released in 2004, reflects changing colors and dynamics for the group and opened the doors of Europe. In 2006 Saltarello leave the Canadian soil to play in Morocco. Meetings with various Moroccan musicians improved their knowledge of the Berber music and gave the first spurts of the third album: “Forgotten Passage”. With the release of “Nine Worlds”, 2011 sounds like the year of recognition for a group that is now showing great maturity.
