Sunguru N’Goni was born from the initiative of Dramane Kone, Mali’s storyteller and actor from the region of Sikasso. Upon his arrival in Quebec, Dramane Kone was impressed by the large number of female students in his courses kamele Ngoni, whose meaning is “the harp of young men. ” This prompted him to create the group Sunguru N’Goni, literally “the harp of young women. ” Sunguru N’Goni reflects the sensitivity, creativity and strength of the female gender. If the original instrument was intended only to men, it is here the artistic vehicle of a new generation of women. The group is a space for creation and exchange of knowledge between its members. This is primarily to ensure a transmission of Malian culture.
