• FACEBOOK LIVE • BANTÜ SALSA × AYRAD

It is with great enthusiasm that the Festival international Nuits d’Afrique, presented by the TD Bank Group, offers you Live on its Facebook page @nuits.dafrique, this Thursday, October 22 at 8 p.m., the third musical journey in its Live from Montreal’s African Nights series. With Bantü Salsa (Cameroun, Mali) and Ayrad (Maroc), world music fans will be able to see and hear performances by these artists from Montreal’s World scene for free.
The Festival will put online a sequence of the best moments of these two concerts.

First Part – Bantü Salsa
Les Incontournables Series, presented by La Fabrique culturelle de Télé-Québec

The album Kessaï, released in March, “is a project that celebrates human beings with, as a backdrop, the importance of advancing together, despite differences” (RCI, 2019). The multicultural collective’s music revolves around a common theme : the age old and common history of its members, from Africa to Latin America. Kora, percussions, brass and piano dialogue harmoniously and dynamically, bound by the multi-octave voice of Just Wôan. African salsa that grooves!
Second Part – Ayrad
Les Incontournables Series, presented by La Fabrique culturelle de Télé-Québec
Ayrad “deconstructs the codes of Moroccan music and takes hold of them, fermenting them slowly to inject real punch and to add a kick to the many twists and turns” (Le Devoir, 2018). Ayrad defines himself as a gathering of cultures, a Constantinople of melodies and beats from the four corners of the earth. Nominated for a Juno Award and winner of a Félix in 2015, this anti-conformist group explores various genres, embracing pop, rock, electro, funk, dancehall, Tuareg blues, raïbhangraassouf, Afro-Peruvian beats and Celtic sounds.
