• FACEBOOK LIVE • DAKKA DEMBÉLÉ × NOMADIC MASSIVE

It is with great enthusiasm that the Festival international Nuits d’Afrique, presented by the TD Bank Group, offers you Live on its Facebook page @nuits.dafrique, this Thursday, October 22 at 8 p.m., the third musical journey in its Live from Montreal’s African Nights series. With Dakka Dembélé (Côte d’Ivoire) and Nomadic Massive (Quebec), world music fans will be able to see and hear performances by these artists from Montreal’s World scene for free.
The Festival will put online a sequence of the best moments of these two concerts.

First Part – Dakka Dembélé
Les Révélations Series, presented by ICI Musique

In his Montréal shoe repair shop, he works on leather with great attention to detail. Dakka is a craftsman and an artist. He takes an attentive look at the world and shapes his life in keeping with his observations. His music follows this dynamic. Like Alpha Blondy or Tiken Jah Fakoly, Dakka offers a committed Mandinka reggae. His first album, Petit bateau, newly released on the Disques Nuits d’Afrique label, “is lively and finely crafted but also as unsettling as the stories he tells us… Rich and catchy” (Ici musique, 2020). He will be back on stage for the first time since the Web launch of his album, to his fans’ delight.
Second Part – Nomadic Massive
Urban Africa Series, presented by par CISM
“It’s hard to find a more modern group than Nomadic Massive: multilingual, mixed-race, multi-coloured, militant” (La Presse, 2019). On its 15th anniversary, they have brought out a lavish new album, Times, which confirms what everyone already knew: Nomadic Massive is Montréal’s flagship hip-hop group. Whether in English, Creole, Spanish or Arabic, they are constantly reinventing their musical approach, textured with beats from here and elsewhere. And, as a rebellious response to societal issues, they convey the city’s vibe far and wide.
