Blaise Labamba & Kotakoli, winners of the 2022 Syli de bronze, bring back the 80s, a golden era in Kinshasa, full of ambiance, music, joie de vivre and, of course “La Sape.” Former member of Big Stars, band of the late Général Defoa, this seasoned musician masterfully leads his own band through rhythmic shifts with hardly a breath to spare, long flights of syncopated rhythms and improvised conversations between the keyboard and guitars. Congolese rumba and soukous at its best.
