She developed an appreciation for traditional rhythms a little late in life during a preliminary trip to her country of origin. These rhythms share an intimate connection with the freedom of jazz, the spirit of soul, the power of gospel, the authenticity of hip-hop and the vibe of R&B, the sounds that illuminated her youth.
