Grand winner of the 2019 Syli d’Or, the artist Mamoutou Dembélé, known as “EMDE”, has, with his own hands, shaped his 15-chord instrument, which he calls “Bahouinou” (a man’s strings)… between the kora and the n’goni! The mandinka blues he skillfully draws from it perfectly underlines the sweet voice of the young griot, descending Bwa. Also a percussionist, he uses just as skillfully the tamani, djembé, dunduns, calabash, karinyan, filen and yabara. An immersive musical experience in the heart of Mali… with heart and passion.
