With the reputation of being “Montreal’s most entertaining” reggae band, Reggae Uprising Band’s undeniable magnetism attracts fans from across Canada, from Rastafarians to the curious who just want to chill to some great music…

Genuine successors of such legends as Peter Tosh and Lee Scratch Perry, the band’s members dive into Kingston’s reggae repertoire with their own groove. They radiate an ’80s vibe that chases away the clouds and sanctifies the sun. Their combined talent has attracted international reggae stars like Luciano and Marcia Griffiths, to name but two. For its infinite source of inspiration, the Reggae Uprising Band revisits the rich history of “Black music,” including jazz, soul, R&B and world music, as well as brilliantly integrating rock and folk influences.

For his part, Roderick “Mello G” Thomas, an artist strongly influenced by the melodic and rhythmic sound of the great Bob Marley, began his singing career at the age of 15, performing in his high school concerts, which earned him respect in his hometown of Clarendon, Jamaica.
