Absolutely mind-blowing, with her unique voice and joyful cry in “Hakuna Matata,” where she’s joined by Meiway in a festive celebration. Like a colourful peacock, the endearing “Tyty” displays the breadth of her artistic talent. The singer-songwriter and dancer is a prize fighter, rivalling the Yemi Alade clique hands down.

The artist’s story, which includes a win at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA 2016), is one of movement and daring. Born in Bouaké, in central Ivory Coast, Tyrane began gathering her stage creds in the country’s capital Abidjan. A true diamond in the rough. From cabaret to cabaret, her popularity grew. And as no one is a prophet in their own country, the young woman broadened her outlook to neighbouring countries and the continent as a whole. Across four years, her sociocultural exploration took her to Benin, Nigeria and then to Morocco. That’s where she earned her first credentials as best piano-bar singer. With the help of producer DJ VAN’s international reputation, her very first hit “Woman” detonated all over North Africa and in Nigeria.

At the very least, Tyrane Mondeny enchants us with her spellbinding voice. On “Ikanasson,” a song of love and seduction worthy of the most beautiful marriages, both poetic and sensitive, the singer asks her heart’s desire to ignore malicious tongues who seek to stifle all passion. Her style of music? Simply “Tyty”! She’s a most versatile artist, ranging from pop to Afrobeat. Nicknamed the “Petite Go du quartier d’Abobo,” in reference to the working-class neighbourhood where she grew up, she invokes her “Mandingo soul” and early American favourites like Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner, that keep the beat going in her head. Invited to perform at the French Institute of Rwanda in Kigali, her shows are truly impressive. The free-spirited Pan-Africanist artist is in a class of her own as she paves the way for a new generation of female singers ready to take the globe by storm!
