Alpha D - Jeunesse Africaine

In 2019, Alpha D finally answers his calling. He flew to Benin in search of his African roots and a deeper connection with the continent. His project has two aims: to take his music to another level and to study the African cooperative movement.

Despite the power cuts and other obstacles he encountered, he remained determined. He recorded twelve powerful tracks with poignant lyrics about various themes, including the formidable strength of youth (Jeunesse Africaine), the environment (Gardien de la Terre), immigration (Citoyen du Monde), and forgiveness (Page Blanche). The second single, ‘Enoch’, the only track sung in English, pays tribute to the patriarch, scribe and wise man of the Ethiopian Bible.

Alpha D, a singer-songwriter with multi-ethnic roots, weaves a unique reggae fusion of diverse musical and cultural influences. His talent and authenticity have allowed him to collaborate with producers from all over the world, including Welders Hi-F (FR), Messenjah Records (UK), Fontoyard (PB) and Svaha Records (AUS).  After years of criss-crossing the stages of Europe and Quebec, Alpha D answers his irresistible call to Africa. At the end of 2019, he flies to Benin, ready to explore new artistic and professional horizons.

Jeunesse Africaine marks a turning point in Alpha D’s career. It’s his 6th album, but the first recorded 100% with real instruments and in Africa, the fruit of an intense collaboration with The Fiya Bro’s.
