BAZ KONPA
BAZ KONPA
Born in Montreal during the winter of 2018 under the impulse of keyboardist Jean Wesly Fils and his brother, percussionist Duckens Fils, BAZ Konpa was forged in the warmth of rehearsal sessions, shaped by a rare musical connection. Soon joined by talented and inspired musicians, the project evolved into a full-fledged band with a strong identity — modern, vibrant, and deeply rooted in contemporary konpa. With a powerful groove, refined arrangements, and an irresistible energy, BAZ Konpa brings together audiences of all generations while reinventing the genre’s codes. Each year, they perform on major stages in Canada and abroad, including Festival Haïti en Folie, Festival International Nuits d’Afrique, Festival Kompa Zouk Ontario (FKZO), Festival de l’Afrique de Beauharnois, Festival Kompa Zouk Abidjan, Festival International Musique Kreyol de Montréal, the Abidjan Performing Arts Market (MASA), and the Francophone Association of Nunavut. Driven by an authentic musical identity, infectious rhythms, and a magnetic stage presence, BAZ Konpa stands as one of the leading ambassadors of modern konpa, proudly spreading Haitian culture across the world’s stages.
