What began as a simple evening between two musicians, led to the 2019 founding agreement for an orchestra. Although Eduardo Ramirez and Mac Gregore Brunis are its core members, Sabor 19 is a rhythmic tonic composed of ten musicians who embody four cultural backgrounds and two lively styles of music, salsa and cumbia.

As rich a sound as any found in Montreal, North America’s world music paradise, the Sabor 19 wave triggered a tremendous upswing in the local Latin American music scene. Just three years ago, when the group’s original arrangements were having such an enormous impact across Canada, it began attracting increasingly large crowds of fans. Its unique take on classics, such as “Un Verano a Nueva York,” makes fans go wild, while the ensemble is celebrated by Montreal’s Caribo-Latino Festival.

This world-class orchestra rose to the Syli d’Or semifinals in 2023. Sabor 19 draws its strength from its very diversity. Regardless of where the musicians may come from, this is a true Montreal ensemble that gives its all when performing on stage. Just close your eyes and you’ll be swept up in a joyful embrace! As they charm the crowd with a festive atmosphere, you can hear the high heels clicking to the rhythms while couples come together and embrace. So, dress up in your finest, the evening promises to be an exciting one…
