Originally from Mali, Michelle Kaniba Traoré is a highly talented artist and actress. Her father, from whom she received her first artistic education, is Falaba Issa Traoré, a singer-songwriter and great Malian film-maker. filmmaker Falaba Issa Traoré, who is well known throughout Africa and beyond.

At her father’s death and at his request in 2003, she enrolled at the Institut National des Arts et de la Culture, from which she graduated in dramatic arts, and was revealed to the Malian public through the reality TV show Case Sangan 2008. She was then spotted by Rokia Traoré, the Mandingo music diva, who invited her to take part in her Fondation Passerelle project.

She sang backing vocals on many of his European tours before embarking on a solo career with a voice that captivated audiences. Music did not make her abandon her cinematic talents. She has appeared in a number of Malian film series and movies (Boubacar Sidibé’s Les rois de Ségou in 2010 and Dougouba Sigui in 2013, Aïda Mady Diallo’s Bamako la ville aux 3 caïmans in 2015).

Art is her heritage, her life and her passion. She has worked with many of the biggest names in Malian and international music, including Oumou Sangare, Rokia Traoré, Ahmed Fofana, Barou Diallo, Barou Blemy and the American Élise Morris in 2021. Her music is a blend of traditional Mandingo rhythms and contemporary music.
Like her predecessors, she wants to make Mali proud.
