NADINE ALTOUNJI
NADINE ALTOUNJI
Nadine Altounji is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Montreal, of Syrian heritage. Her music weaves together the melodies of her oud and guitar with Afro-Peruvian and Arabic rhythms, creating a captivating blend of Arab and South American musical traditions. Performing in multiple languages—including French, English, Spanish, and Arabic—she uses her songs to explore themes of identity and human connection. Inspired by the root systems of trees, her EPs The Stories that Tie Us to Trees, Vol. 1 (2022) and Enracinées dans l’Histoire, Vol. 2 (2023) pay tribute to cultural heritage, intergenerational transmission, and the deep bonds between people. She also carries powerful messages of peace and justice through her music, notably with Marcha de Flores, a poignant anthem against gender-based violence.
