OMAR MBAYE

A Senegalese artist and spiritual son of Teranga with 360 influences, Omar Mbaye is nourished by the traditional sounds of his country, where African rhythms interact with contemporary influences. A spokesperson for resilient youth who refuses to limit himself to the mbalax of his masters, he draws inspiration from Coldplay’s rock, James Brown’s soul-pop and Michael Jackson, among others. This mosaic of sounds marked his appearance at the Syli d’Or awards at Nuits d’Afrique 2024.

A trilingual and committed singer, Omar Mbaye is the voice of Senegalese youth. Through his lyrics, he raises awareness about forced marriages, tragic migratory exoduses and the injustices affecting his generation. His signature : to instil ever more love, with sincerity and conviction.
