In the beginning, there was Earth. It was covered in darkness. There was no sun, no life, neither animals nor plants. Those are some of the words that give meaning to the artist’s emblematic pieces carried to Medellín’s heights like “Amanecer,” a sunrise. Despite the fatal sounding KillaBeatMaker handle, the raw sound of three geniuses beats with life at every show. They have the power to revive anyone who feels they are fading fast…

Connected to the breath of South America’s first peoples, KillaBeatMaker, aka Hilder Brando Osorno, attracts a broad base that embraces his vision of the world and Indigenous openness. Osorno and two other masters of sound joined forces to form a whole, with Guadalupe Giraldo and Julian Ramirez on percussions, the Columbian gaita (flute), and lead and backing vocals. Intense and original, with a blend of rap, electro and a host of tantalizing South American sounds, the trio pack venues as they perform across the Americas and Europe, continents in which they have toured five times.

The Columbian producer, who received a Latin Grammy Awards nomination as a sound engineer in 2014, has been in the music business for almost 20 years and is never short of inspiration. He has an uncommon talent for reinventing the look he projects. His keen sense of imagery is reflected in his sublime videos, such as “Huracán,” an ode to our universal African origins that features an electrifying performance by dancer Julio Mosquera.
