Lara Klaus is a percussionist, drummer, singer, songwriter and educator. She specializes in the study and teaching of percussion. 

 

Originally from the Northeast of Brazil, Lara has been part of several bands and has performed with renowned Brazilian artists, including Elba Ramalho and Moraes Moreira. 

 

She is also part of Ladama, a group formed by 4 women from different cultures that uses music as a tool for social change and empowerment of women and youth. The group has released two albums, Ladama (2017), Oye Mujer (2020) and has toured major festivals in South America, North America, in Europe (such as Womex and Monterey Jazz Festival), as well as the International Festival Nuits d’Afrique in 2018.

 

The artist explores different combinations of percussion, from the drum machine to various instruments of African origin, embellished by her guitar playing and voice. Lara’s solo project was born in 2016 and her first album entitled Força do Gesto, was released in 2018. 

 

Lara won the Syli d’argent and the Coup de cœur du public award at the 14th edition of the Syli d’Or de la musique du monde . 

 

Her original compositions are mainly influenced by Northeast Brazilian and Afro-Latin music. In her new show entitled Poeira Estelar, she is accompanied by musicians André Galamba (guitar and musical direction), David Ryshpan (keyboard) and Erivan Duarte (bass).
