At every level, this incredible artist takes her country’s music into a whole new dimension. As a singer-songwriter, NAXX BITOTA seeks to launch Congolese rumba and Mutuashi to the outer reaches of her dreams. Her love for the classical repertoire is woven into her approach, resulting in music that is crystalline and lively, free of any artifice.

Miss “Afropop Mutuash” is defined by her zest for life and goodness towards others. She expressively touches on themes like her fondness towards the maternal figure and openness. Her song “Amour sans frontières,” released in 2021, represents her well, without limiting her scope. She has already carved out a unique path for herself beyond the borders of her adopted city of Montreal. Yet this milieu also inspires her to get culturally involved, like when she sang along with the music of the late, great Papa Wemba during Black History Month. A strong woman, and proud of it, NAXX made her mark in the 2018 edition of Productions Nuits d’Afrique’s “Rythmes au Féminin.”

Since the release of her debut album Kuetu in 2022, this young Congolese artist has us feeling that her music concerns us all.
