▷ Raíz Viva | Cumbia autochtone (Colombia)

Founded in 2023, Raíz Viva is a group that celebrates the fusion of Afro-Colombian music and culture with Quebec’s Québécois, Canadian, and Latin American communities. Their mission is to create spaces for expression and raise awareness about the realities of Latin America. By blending Afro-Colombian rhythms—an amalgamation of African drums, indigenous Latin American instruments, and European influences—the band offers vibrant music that echoes this rich diversity. The name “Raíz Viva” (Living Root) reflects their desire to reconnect with ancestral roots while evolving musical traditions. Based in Canada, a multicultural country, the group is inspired by encounters with various musical styles, further enriching their creations. Their debut album features rhythms from the Colombian Atlantic coast, including a reinterpretation of the Brazilian song Magalenha, fused with Chalupa, a rhythm from the Atlantic coast

▷ BAZ Konpa | Konpa, Zouk (Haiti)

BAZ Konpa was formed in the winter of 2018 by keyboardist Jean Wesly Fils and his brother, percussionist Duckens Fils. Their shared passion for music led them to meet regularly to discuss and create together. Over time, this collaboration with the other members of the band developed into a true “musical family,” BAZ. During their recording sessions, the group expanded into an eight-piece band, offering a unique and authentic sound. In February 2018, BAZ released their first three demos. Their debut single, Mwen Pare, was released in January 2022, followed by SEL LANMOU KAP RETE in January 2023, and the hit RETE AVEM in March 2024, which became a true chart-topper. Known for their energy and ability to make crowds dance, BAZ Konpa regularly performs at major Francophone music festivals, both in Canada and internationally. The band has performed at events such as the Festival de l’Afrique in Beauharnois, the Festival Haïti en Folie, the Kompa Zouk Ontario Festival, the Kompa Zouk Abidjan Festival, the Montreal International Kreyol Music Festival, the Marché des Arts du Spectacle in Abidjan, and the Association des Francophones du Nunavut, to name just a few. With their distinctive style, BAZ Konpa continues to make its mark on the kompa music scene and captivate an ever-growing audience around the world.

▷ MARZOS & MATEO | Salsa (Latin America)

MARZOS is a group passionate about salsa and Latin American music, formed in 2019. Blending classic salsa with traditional Latin rhythms, the band adds a modern and energetic touch to each performance. Composed of experienced musicians, MARZOS regularly performs at concerts and festivals, while also organizing events and workshops to share their passion. Since March 2024, MARZOS has been collaborating with MATEO, an innovative Colombian artist who blends AfroBeat, alternative rock, electro, and Afro-Colombian sounds. Together, they offer a vibrant concert featuring original compositions and salsa brava classics, celebrating their Latin American heritage.
