▷ Le Jafar | Soul, Hip-Hop (Cameroon)

Born on August 15, 1986, in Douala, Cameroon, Elijah grew up in a family where basic needs were met, allowing him to focus on his education. In 1998, influenced by his older sister and local Hip-Hop enthusiasts, he began writing his first rhymes. Artists like Black Napoléon, Sir Nostra, and Shamir Sunshine helped shape his style, and after various solo and collective experiences with FM 237, he became known as Le Jafar.
Now based in Canada, Le Jafar continues to enrich his artistry through international collaborations, notably with the collective Les MoonTunes.
His artistic approach revolves around themes of Truth and Love, reflecting his social reality without judgment or vulgarity. His lyrics are rhythmically rich and direct, serving as a projection of his world, where he explores the creative possibilities of Hip-Hop while maintaining a raw, constructive energy. His creative process is driven by momentary inspiration, adapting to different contexts but always staying true to the authentic expression of his ideas.

▷ Raíz Viva  | Native cumbia (Colombia)

Founded in 2023, Raíz Viva is a group that celebrates the fusion of Afro-Colombian music and culture with Quebec’s Québécois, Canadian, and Latin American communities. Their mission is to create spaces for expression and raise awareness about the realities of Latin America. By blending Afro-Colombian rhythms—an amalgamation of African drums, indigenous Latin American instruments, and European influences—the band offers vibrant music that echoes this rich diversity. The name “Raíz Viva” (Living Root) reflects their desire to reconnect with ancestral roots while evolving musical traditions. Based in Canada, a multicultural country, the group is inspired by encounters with various musical styles, further enriching their creations. Their debut album features rhythms from the Colombian Atlantic coast, including a reinterpretation of the Brazilian song Magalenha, fused with Chalupa, a rhythm from the Atlantic coast.
