Melting Point | Jazz, Funk, Latin, Afrobeat (Trinidad, Iran, France)
Melting Point brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds, driven by influences ranging from Afro-Caribbean rhythms and modal jazz to various forms of funk, not to mention the rich musical traditions of the Middle East. This diversity is expressed in lively and contrasting music, fueled by polyrhythmic percussion, powerful grooves, and captivating melodies. The group prioritizes original compositions while creatively revisiting jazz and funk standards. Their varied paths and cultures form a common language where experience, freedom, and collective expression meet. Each performance aims to create an authentic, vibrant, and deeply engaging moment, reflecting their musical fusion.

KANNFÒ | Kompa, Zouk, Rara, Petro (Haiti)
KANNFÒ is a Montreal-based musical collective founded by two artists of Haitian origin, RèN Darah and Ericka Julie. Derived from the Creole words canne (roots) and fò (strength), their name symbolizes a Caribbean anchorage that is both deep and powerful. Their music creates a dialogue between traditional Haitian rhythms—ranging from petro, rara, and konpa—and modern sounds, creating a vibrant stage experience where voice, percussion, and movement meet. A former dancer and singer trained in Haiti, Ericka Julie distinguished herself on international stages (Trinidad, Taiwan, Mali) before settling in Canada, where she pursues a committed and pluralistic artistic path. RèN Darah is a singer and songwriter revealed by the Quebec scene, winner of several awards (including the Kilimanjaro Award for Female Voice of the Year 2024), whose music blends R&B, neo-soul, and Caribbean influences. By uniting their worlds, KANNFÒ celebrates the strength of women and the richness of Afro-Caribbean identities through powerful, sensitive performances deeply rooted in Haitian heritage.
