Les Disques Nuits d’Afrique announce the worldwide release of the Syli d’Or de la musique du monde 2023 – 16e édition compilation, available on all digital distribution platforms.

This exceptional showcase for world music artists living in Canada brings new talent to the fore each year. This not-to-be-missed event for music lovers confirms the latest trends in world music, and promotes and fosters the emergence, continuity and dynamism of musical expression from universal cultures.

Recipients of the Syli d’Or, d’Argent and de Bronze awards thrilled audiences at the gala finale, captured live at La Tulipe in Montreal. The recording and release of this compilation is one of the prizes enabling the winners to develop their artistic careers.

The 3 winners of this 16th edition:

Syli d’Or: La Tribu Salsa Band (Latin America / Qc)

Syli d’Argent : Abondance (Guadeloupe / Martinique / Qc)

Syli de Bronze: Lil K HPB (Burundi / Qc)

The compilation includes 9 tracks by the 3 winners, recorded live at the Gala evening held at La Tulipe on April 27, 2023.

The Salsa Band tribe, made up of experienced musicians, is Salsa dura at its best, honoring this rhythm created in the 70s in New York. Abondance diplomatically combines Zouk and Gwoka from Martinique and Guadeloupe with House, Pop, Dance, Electro and Funk. Finally, Lil K HPB has all the pop attributes of hits by the likes of Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy, though subtly tinged with the rumba colors of Burundi’s giant neighbor, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This compilation showcases the dazzling diversity of the 2023 Syli d’Or world music finalists.
