The Syli d’Or World Music Awards uncover exceptional new talent and confirm the latest trends in world music with every edition.

To determine the winners, we are pleased to welcome the members of a professional jury, recognized for their careers and expertise in the music industry. At both the semi-finals and the final, audience votes are combined with the jury’s evaluations.

Gala Final Jury

Anne Vivien

General Manager, Musicor and STE-4 – Québecor

General Manager of the Musicor and STE-4 labels within Québecor, Anne Vivien is a recognized leader for her role in structuring and developing the group’s music division. With over 27 years of experience in North America and Europe, she has held key positions in artistic direction and management, including at BMG Music Canada. In 2003, she launched Musicor in the wake of the Star Académie phenomenon, helping build a label ecosystem that became a defining force in the Québec market. She later founded Viktoria Music, her own consulting firm, before returning to Québecor in 2017. Since then, she has played a decisive role in transforming and expanding the music division, notably through the acquisition of new labels such as MP3 Disques and by strengthening synergies between the group’s platforms.

Sandra Gasana

Journalist at PAN M 360 and musician

Sandra Gasana has been a cultural journalist for PAN M 360 for two years. She is also a singer-songwriter who describes her music as an Afro-Latin fusion, blending the traditional rhythms of her home country Rwanda with Latin sounds, primarily Brazilian. She also teaches French to federal government employees and moderates panels related to her areas of interest.

Christelle Onomo Lopes

Founder of Culture des Arts Institut

Leader communautaire et lauréate du Mois de l’histoire des Noirs, Christelle Onomo Lopes est reconnue pour son engagement dans les arts et la jeunesse. Founder of Culture des Arts Institut, elle soutient artistes et organisations en planification stratégique, promotion et mentorat, tout en agissant comme directrice artistique de projets culturels à fort impact dans les quartiers populaires de Montréal depuis dix ans. Forte de plus de 20 ans d’expérience comme choriste professionnelle sur de grandes scènes d’Europe et à l’international, elle est partenaire du Syli d’Or depuis cinq ans et contribue activement à l’émergence de nouveaux talents.

Xavier Forget

Producer, Popular Music and Variety – National Arts Centre

Xavier Forget brings over 30 years of experience in the performing arts. He joined the National Arts Centre in 1997 and served as Technical Director of the French Theatre for many years. Since 2010, he has worked as a Producer in the Popular Music and Variety department, where he is responsible for French-language music programming and the production of special events. He is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.

Mathieu Veziau

Member Services Manager – SPACQ-AE

Mathieu Veziau has spent over fifteen years at the heart of Quebec’s music industry as a singer-songwriter, studio musician and cultural project manager. Over the years, he has contributed to the recording of numerous albums, collaborated with many artists and record labels, and toured extensively across Quebec, Canada and internationally. Today, as Member Services Manager at SPACQ-AE, he puts his hands-on experience to work for the artistic community, guided by a concrete understanding of the challenges facing creators.

Jean Massicotte

Producer and Music Director, Studio Hibiki

A Quebec musician, composer, arranger, music director, sound engineer and mixer, he has arranged, produced and mixed numerous albums for artists including Pierre Lapointe, Lhasa de Sela, Jean Leloup, Arthur H, Catherine Major, Adam Cohen, Jorane, Boogat, Patrick Watson, Bran Van 3000 and Richard Desjardins, among others. His work has been widely recognized: Arthur H – L’Homme du monde – Rock Album 2008 Victoires de la Musique; Pierre Lapointe – La forêt des mal-aimés – Félix for arrangements 2006; Lhasa de Sela – The living road – BBC Worldbeat Award 2003, etc.

Frédéric Cardin

Cultural journalist for Pan M 360

Practically raised in his parents’ record store, Frédéric Cardin studied history and political science, but music caught up with him and never let go. A journalist, host and producer for many years at Radio-Canada’s music channel, Frédéric is now an independent journalist at Pan M 360. He is passionate about a wide range of musical genres, with a particular fondness for classical music, epic film scores, jazz and world music. Frédéric has served on the Syli d’Or semi-final jury several times in the past — and every time he is asked again, he says yes without hesitation.

Mélanie Gomes-Martel

Community Sector Manager, Place des Arts

Mélanie is a Quebec professional of Portuguese origin who works at Place des Arts as Community Sector Manager. Coming from a community background, she is interested in questions of accessibility in the arts and culture, both for artists and audiences. Her role brings her into collaboration with people from diverse realities, which informs her perspective in selecting artists for the various events produced by the Place des Arts community sector.
