Andy Rubal must have fallen into a musical potion when he was little to become the star of the popular Cuban group Baby Salsa at just six years old. The singer-songwriter is able to manipulate the piano keys like no other. The Havana-born artist trained on the majestic black and white instrument and has accompanied such prestigious voices as Waldo Mendoza and the Latin jazz flutist Orlando Valle. It wasn’t long before this musical director recorded his own album in 2017, under the iconic EGREM label of Buena Vista Social Club fame, and received a nomination for “Best Salsa Album for a New Artist.”

His musical journey led him to Montreal where he crossed paths with Boogàt, megaphone of the Latin sound. Together they produced the hit, Estoy Casado. His latest single, Moi, ton roi, features none other than Florence K… it doesn’t get hotter than that! Cuba’s darling child has a huge Montreal following, playing at a host of venues such as La Casona and the legendary Upstairs jazz club. Last May, Andy Rubal released a collection of his musical inspirations with a first EP, 75°, produced entirely in Canada—a window into his nomadic universe, his pulse for life…. and the pure pleasure of it.
