Diogo Ramos is a singer-songwriter from Sao Paulo, Brazil. His music is part of the long tradition of Brazilian popular singers. Having studied music, especially guitar, since the age of 13, he was awarded the Vinicius de Moraes Prize at the age of 16 as a guitarist-performer.

 

In 2010, he left Brazil to settle in Montreal where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in guitar performance at the University of Quebec in Montreal. He has made a name for himself on the Montreal music scene, collaborating with artists such as Paulo Ramos, Bia Krieger, Flavia Nascimento, Rommel Ribeiro, Blanche Baillargeon, among others.

 

He has been working for 20 years as a music producer, with the completion of 15 albums. In 2012, he produced the album “Egológico Recycle” which consecrated Rommel Ribeiro with the 2012-2013 Radio-Canada Revelations Award in the world music category. In 2014, he produced the album “O Momento Presente é Azul” of the renowned artist Paulo Ramos.

 

2018 sees the release of his album “Samba sans Frontieres”, where he pays tribute to his country of adoption by interpreting pieces by Gilles Vigneault, Félix Leclerc, Pierre Perreault and his compositions where Portuguese and French intermingle. His remarkable guitar and his lips discover the language of his new country: it is Franco Bossa Nova!

 

Diogo Ramos is a recipient of the 2017 Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec research and creation grant, he won the Coup de cœur du Conseil des Arts de Montréal and Coup de cœur of the MATV awards at the 2017 MUZ Festival (Vision Diversité), a true showcase of world music in Montreal.
