Mestizo’s project is to bring the music of the Andes to Canada. MESTIZO was born in the fall of 2006 with a show in the picturesque and great Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood in Montreal. Their musical style is contemporary, ancient and modern Andean music. Their compositions are inspired by different Andean music groups like Kjarkas, Proyeccion and Illapu.
South American music is a mixture of indigenous, Spanish and African cultures. Mestizo spreads the richness of South American music: saya, huayno, sanjuanito, tinku, cueca, carnavalito, trote, etc. Their objective: to make this music known to the whole world!
