BIOGRAPHY

Romain is a modern minstrel, a nomadic guitarist who sings his favourite songs from the heart— from Buena vista social club to Les Colocs, covering Beatles songs and resurrecting those of the old itinerant Tennessee musicians, steeped in their Jack Daniels, and will even dangle his feet from Otis’s “Dock of the Bay” with Ed Sheeran… he’s a major jukebox fan! For the past twenty years, he’s been in demand in Montreal and across Quebec. His great versatility, which allows him to blend in with his repertoire, is a gift in itself.

Romain is also enamoured with the Malian Mandinka culture and spent several months in that near-mythical land where music flows as free as the wind. That is where he met Moustafa, son of de Bassekou Kouyaté, with whom he released the album, Les frontières imaginaires, a bold undertaking that features Malian and Quebec musician. It also won recognition at the Canadian Folk Music Award and the Independent Music Award in the U.S. The versatile musician renders his songs in English, French, Spanish and even Baramba. No doubt about it, Romains Malagnoux thrives on performance! Blues, soul, folk, he does it all. A definite must see for a deliciously entertaining experience….
