La Guinée rend hommage au Baobab de Nuit de Montréal : Lamine Touré, Fondateur du Festival

Lamine Touré, former dancer and choreographer at Guinea’s National Ballet, is a trailblazer. He is the vision behind Nuits d’Afrique, the guiding light… the baobab. Throughout the years, he has welcomed artists with kindness, dedication and humility; he truly appreciates their talent, gives emerging artists a chance to shine and provides a North American stage for the biggest international world music stars. Always with the same enthusiasm, always curious, always driven by a desire to build bridges between cultures; to help cultural communities feel at home; and to help Quebecers discover the world. With Nuits d’Afrique, he has managed to create the largest event of its kind in North America. It’s unique and wonderful, just like him.

Organized by Guinea’s Ministère de la Culture, du Tourisme et de l’Artisanat through its Fonds de Développement des Arts et de la Culture, the evening—featuring an incredible lineup of internationally renowned Guinean artists performing back-to-back—promises to be a memorable one. “This initiative reflects our commitment to honouring our compatriot’s remarkable contribution to promoting Guinean culture worldwide,” said Malick Kébé, the Fund’s Director General.
