About
La Piola is an Argentine folk group based in Montreal.
The ensemble is dedicated to reviving the sounds of the Río de la Plata and the coastal region, offering an authentic and contemporary interpretation of this repertoire.
Founded by Ivan Tolj, the group features a rich instrumentation comprising vocals, flute, bass, bombo legüero, cajón, and guitar, which highlights the diverse sounds of Argentine folklore.
Through rhythms such as the milonga, zamba, candombe, chacarera, and rasguido doble, La Piola transports the audience into a vibrant world, rooted in tradition yet open to creativity.
