Oluwa started music in 2001 at the age of 17 when he just lost his grandmother. He was asked by his brothers to sing during this rather painful moment in his life and the positive reactions from friends and family, he has never stopped singing since then. He later formed a Duo called “Black phase” and they sang songs for the protection of nature and the environment. After a series of recordings which were not very successful, Oluwa decided to achieve recognition for his work by enrolling in various musical contests in the country like Mutzig star (formerly “Concours de la chanson”) and Star 2 demain from 2004 till 2015. Though not very successful, they were a good learning experience for Oluwa who took upon himself to improve on his art and skills in live performances by singing in the most renowned Cabarets in the country like the Famous Dreamland Cabaret in Bamenda where he worked for almost 2 years.

With this valuable experience, Oluwa who will never give up, decided to give it a final shot at the prestigious Mutzig star 2016 edition. This time he was crowned third out of the thousands of contestants who participated. He is on a journey to becoming one of the most celebrated musicians and entertainers the world will boast of.

Oluwa Banjo has an urban music orientation which perfectly suits his voice and his demeanor as a person. He tries in all his music to create a perfect amalgamation between the traditional and the modern musical genres to come up with the rare contemporary brand filled with thrilling sounds and rhythms which is much appreciated by audiences old and young. He sees himself as a peace crusader and a strong social advocate and this is highly reflected in his lyrics which are often very educative and create a strong awakening in the minds of listeners. He is a thrilling and energetic performer and can keep his audiences actively engaged and satisfied for long hours with his amazing stage gestures and dance moves.

After the tragic loss of his wife in 2015, Oluwa has been filled with new energy and an unquenchable zeal to succeed and make his friends, family and the whole world proud of his music. He launched his own record label “Ebony Black W Records” in 2015 gaining inspiration from his late ebony black and beautiful wife. He is greatly influenced by his kids, his family and the happenings in the world.

His motivation comes first from God Almighty, his elder brother Lucien and his mother. He is also greatly motivated by the works of others artists like: 2 Face Idibla, Salatiel, M.Leo…Just to name a few.
