From February 11 to April 24, 2025, every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:30pm at the Club Balattou, you can participate to the selection of the 9 bands ‘’Coup de coeur’’ who will be send in semi-finales !

▷ Son Nagual | Cumbia (Colombia)
Son Nagual is the meeting of six musicians of Chilean, French, and Colombian origins, brought together by their passion for the infectious rhythms of Latin America.
In Mesoamerican beliefs, naguales are beings with a dual nature, both human and animal, symbolizing multiple identities. This concept inspires the band as they explore the contrasts of our time: between climate catastrophe and local economies, technological individualism and global solidarity, isolationism and openness to others.
Rooted in Colombian cumbia, their music also draws from bambuco and salsa, blending original compositions with improvisation. Emerging from the underground scenes of Estrie, they fuse tradition and modernity: ancestral percussion (alegre, tambora, guacharaca, maracas) intertwines with electric bass, guitar, violin, Colombian tiple, accordion, and clarinet.

▷ Kurt Chaboyer & The Blue Beats | Rocksteady (Canada)
Blue Beats brings together seasoned Montreal musicians with deep roots in the swing, jazz, and rockabilly scenes, all driven by a shared passion for groove and musical exploration. After the pandemic, they set out to explore new rhythms, diving into the world of rocksteady—a Jamaican style that bridges ska and reggae, known for its smooth, infectious beat and soulful vibe.
Led by Kurt Chaboyer, a singer-songwriter with a deep, resonant voice reminiscent of Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen, the band crafts a distinctive sound that blends melancholic depth with vibrant energy. Their repertoire features original compositions alongside carefully selected covers, reimagined with finesse and authenticity.
With their refined approach and irresistible rhythms, Blue Beats invites audiences on a musical journey where past and present collide, creating a warm, danceable atmosphere that lingers long after the last note.

Be part of the adventure: attend as many concerts as you want for free and rate your favourite artists each night. You will be invited to fill out an evaluation form, it is important to EVALUATE THE TWO PERFORMANCES of the evening and attend the two performances.
