Blues, the ultimate vehicle for torn journeys, brought together the unlikely duo of Swiss artist Thierry Jaccard and Mauritian Yannick Nanette. With their new album Sadela, The TWO immerses itself in the Creole imagination of the Indian Ocean. “Sadela,” meaning “the two” in Mauritian Creole, is a musical journey that explores island blues such as Sega and Maloya. Through this creation, the two musicians share their hybrid, mixed identities, ever-evolving, echoing the imagination of a “creolization” of the world as envisioned by poet Édouard Glissant.
