Resonating vibrations between the kora’s strings and those of the double bass, Racines is the sweet fruit of a magical encounter between griot Zal Sissokho and jazz musician Laurent Perreault-Jolicoeur. Intimate and imbued with a sense of complicity, their collaboration forms “a lively exchange between West Africa and North America,” (RFI, 2025), creating an evocative experience where Mandinka tradition and the spontaneity of jazz come together with poetry and elegance.
