About
You’d think you were in Santiago de Cuba or else in Cali—the “Salsa Capital of the World”— that’s how amazing this ensemble is! The Afro-Latin experience produced by this Montreal-based collective, founded in 2023, is nothing short of a salsa extravaganza guaranteed to get everyone dancing in style. These exquisite artists have made a splash at Club Balattou and their growing fan base is eager to see them perform at the Festival’s 40th edition. ¡Baila, baila, baila!
Founders, Mateo Díaz and Juan Quintero, both from Colombia, and the eleven other musicians that make up the Ensamble, don’t just deliver sensual salsa with finesse, they have developed a distinctive Montreal sound, shaped by the city’s nightlife and its unique vibe—a winning formula that fans rave about after every show. Its Colombian and Cuban roots remain strong, but the local flavour is exhilarating.
La Murga brings together the best that salsa has to offer, past and present, by drawing on an incredibly rich history and the quintessential Afro-Cuban rhythms that keep couples twirling and delightfully dizzy. Joyful energy fuels this phenomenon, which features some of the genre’s finest musicians, and includes a DJ set. All the ingredients are there for a party that will make you feel alive. It’s full-on addictive!
