BIOGRAPHY

Boron on the Ivory Coast, he was told that his mother softly sang in his ear while his older brother played the drums. Immersed in the griot universe, he owes the first lines of his story as a singer to these Burkinabé family foundations. As a dancer, he refined his art and participated in competitions while exploring the rap genre, but his first real breakthrough came within the musical Kienou family of Ouagadougou. From then on, his path opened up, from one connection to another, one national stage to another. Filled with conviction, Kabey Kanoté created his own Mandinka style from reggae roots and world music trends. Another breakthrough came in 2006 with none other than Mister “Opération coup de poing” himself, Alpha Blondy, when he got the audience fired up during the opening set, which provided him with the ideal exposure.

This paved the way for his 2010 debut album, Douaou, followed by his 2014 maxi record Africa Elections; because this Rastaman never stops fighting for fair governance across the African continent and against corruption. And he is on the right track. He is increasingly being approached by festivals in Mali and elsewhere and has opened for Tiken Jah Fakoly.
