JINJ’s music has achieved a perfect balance. Hip hop. Electro. Traditional. It oscillates between the lyricism of trap and the mystical sounds of Armenian folk. It floats between charming technopop and processional chanting in impeccable French, pierced through with the musicality of the Armenian language. It writhes between a beatbox tempo and the tremor of traditional flutes. It sways between meditative and dancing rhythms. It weaves between the peacefulness of a fertile mountainside and the noisiness of an urban landscape. It recalls war but breaths humanism. Sevana Tchakerian and Gor Tadevosyan create an Armobeat that is as much about resistance as resilience.
