The Senegalese media aren’t exaggerating when they say that the power of his voice and the richness of his lyrics leaves no one unmoved; Seydina is remarkably charismatic and authentic. Although jazz, rap, folk and Afro-electro all influence his music, it is the ultra distinctive mbalax style of dance music that holds sway. Originally from Thiaroye, in Senegal, the singer-songwriter with a golden voice reminiscent of Thione Seck, has recorded two singles under Youssou Ndour’s record label, Jololi (later renamed Prince Arts), and collaborated with such musicians as Viviane and Fallou Dieng.
